Multi-faith prayer meeting for Edhi in Mumbai

There will be a multi-faith prayer meeting in Mumbai on Monday evening to honour the legendary Pakistani social worker Abdul Sattar Edhi who passed way in Karachi last week aged 88ORF-Edhi_1

The meeting, organised by the Observer Research Foundation in Mumbai, in collaboration with the Mumbai Karachi Friendship Forum, will be held on Monday, July 18, 2016, at 5.30 pm at the ORF premises.

The Edhi Foundation set up by the Gujarat, India-born Edhi who migrated to Pakistan after Partition was instrumental in helping to repatriate fishermen from India arrested and imprisoned in Pakistan.

The Edhi Foundation’s morgue also houses the bodies of Indian prisoners who pass away in Pakistani prison until they can be returned to their families.

Edhi and his wife Bilquis had also personally nurtured and cared for the deaf-mute Indian girl Geeta for many years before she was sent back to her country.
