The India-Pakistan youth group Aaghaz-e-Dosti (Start of Friendship) has kicked off its 5th Indo-Pak Peace Calendar in different cities in India and Pakistan, starting with Lahore on January 1, 2017.

As in the last few years, this year’s calendar features the twelve best paintings submitted by students from India and Pakistan, as well as messages of peace from well known personalities. Aaghaz-e-Dosti traditionally launches the calendar in several cities on either side of the border, each time with a panel discussion on peace between the two countries.

After the Lahore launch on the first day of the New Year at the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, the calendar will be launched in other Pakistani cities including Toba Tek Singh (Jan 8), Peshawar (Jan 10) and Karachi (date to be decided).

Indian cities where the calendar is set to be launched include Delhi (Jan 14, India International Centre Annexe, 02:30 – 05:00 pm), Chandigarh (30 Jan) and Kolkata (date to be decided).

The calendar launch and panel discussions are free and open to the public. The calendar itself is available for purchase for Rs. 200 INR / Rs. 200 PKR.

Given their low budget, the organisers warn guests that they will only serve only tea and biscuits at these events.
