The cross-border royal family of Jaipur has recently celebrated the birth of the 27th Rana of Dhatt Hamir Singh, born to Padmini Kumari and Karni Singh. The baby boy named Vishwaraj Singh Sodha, was born in Umerkot, Sindh, on April 1, 2017 to Padmini Kumari, daughter of Thakur Man Singh, chief Thakur of Kanota of Jaipur, India, and Karni Singh Sodha, the 26th Rana of Dhatt Hamir Singh, Pakistan.
The couple were married on Feb. 17, 2015. Karni Singh also is the incumbent vice chairman of Tharparkar.
The bride’s parents came from India to attend the Suraj Pooja, the naming ceremony, held in Karachi, and then the centuries-old Rehan ritual held at Umarkot Rana Jagir on Monday. A unique feature of the Rehan feast hosted by the region’s Thakurs is that male guests of honour from all religions wear the traditional Rajput turban.
Guests of honour at the royal family of Jaipur’s celebration of the birth of the 27th Rana of Dhatt Hamir Singh included Faqir Jadam Mangrio of the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F), Tharparkar district council chairman Ghulam Haider Samejo and Umerkot district council chairman Syed Noor Ali Shah.

The proud grandfathers Thakur Man Singh and Rana Hamir Singh told Dawn reporter A. B. Arisar that they stood for love and brotherhood between Hindus and Muslims as well as the principles of Sufism and pluralism in Pakistan and India for lasting peace and brotherhood.
