Held on: June 25, 2010, Wagah Border
Description: As part of Aman ki Asha’s Peace Chain Campaign, some 20,0000 school children from India and 30,000 children from Pakistan created peace messages on handkerchiefs. These handkerchiefs were strung together to create the single largest chain of peace messages by children.
On June 25, 2010, amidst much fan fare and celebration, the Commonwealth Baton was carried across the Wagah border by athletes. After the passing of the baton, school children from the two countries came together to tie a symbolic knot between the two chains of peace messages. One chain was taken into India and the other was brought to Pakistan.
This was followed by entertainment, dances and musical performances on both sides of the border.
