Indian activist to lead conversation in Karachi on the feminist struggle in South Asia

Noor Zaheer, a Marxist feminist from India will discuss the women’s struggles in South Asia at
an event titled A conversation on the Feminist Struggle in South Asia, being held at the Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi, 27 November 2018 at 6 pm.

Aurat HaqShe will also speak about the #metoo movement against sexual harassment in South Asia and how it has evolved.

Noor Zaheer is a Times Fellow and author of ‘Merey Hissay ki Roshani”, an autobiography referencing her father, the pioneering Progressive Writers Association activist Sajjad Zaheer. She has authored several other books including My God is a Woman, Silent Dunes and Raging Forests.

The event is free and open to the public, hosted by Aurat Haq, a Karachi-based women’s cross class diverse political group formed in June 2018 after the historical Aurat March.

On Monday Noor Zaheer spoke to students and academics at a private university about the possibility of peace between India and Pakistan.
