‘Understanding each other changes mindsets’

” We tend to fear what we don’t understand and this is exactly the case with Indians and Pakistanis. Our history is distorted, media is obviously heavily biased and this has worked to create apprehensions about the other side. All the many differences are engineered and amplified and these have overshadowed the more prominent similarities. Our culture, language, appearance, cuisine and interests are all quite similar. And we know that but still somehow there is confusion, lack of understanding and even in some extreme cases, hate.

For me personally, an effort at understanding, a try at getting to know people from India changed my mindset. If people in India and Pakistan get an opportunity to interact in some way with each other, I am positive that we can successfully understand each other and overcome the disability that hate is.
