Karachi, May 17: Passionate and enthusiastic students of Ladybird Grammar School, their faces alight with the spirit of spreading the message of peace and harmony assembled in the school grounds to support ‘Aman ki Asha’, the initiative taken by The Jang Group of Pakistan and The Times of India Group, to campaign for peace between the two countries.
Around 1600 youngsters painted their thoughts and desires on the handkerchiefs provided to them, supervised by their teachers. Students of different levels enthusiastically worked on the hankies. Their paintings differed from one another, but their message was the same: peace between India and Pakistan. One student drew two hands clasped in a handshake, painted with the colours of both the countries’ flags. Another painted a peace tree using the colours of the two countries’ flags. Some wrote poems, others wrote prose.
All this creative expression indicated the desire of these young learners for peace, harmony and friendship between Pakistan and India. Their belief: friendship has no boundaries and borders. They said that they are children of same land, separated by fate, coming together by choice.
Students and staff of the school extended a huge thank you to the Jang Group of Pakistan and Children’s Museum for Peace and Human Rights (CMPHR, which coordinated the event) for providing them the opportunity to be part of this crucial, even divine, campaign. They extended their wishes and prayers for the success of this campaign, and the hope that it would gain impetus in both countries and play its part in bringing peace and harmony to the subcontinent.
