Pakistan India Peoples’ Forum of Peace and Democracy in India has published a compilation of tributes to the late Pakistani lawyer Asma Jahangir. Asma An Icon of Rights and Resistance: Tribute to Asma Jahangir. Asma was one of the founding members for the Forum since its inception in Lahore in 1994.

Compiled by young people in India and Pakistan, it is a collection of tributes, published and unpublished pieces written within 100 hours of her passing away.

Some of these young people had only heard of her but identified closely “with the relentless battle of this peace warrior against the hate mongering between and within these two countries; with the narrative of peace and resistance against war mongering, communal violence, fundamentalism, dictatorship, patriarchy and many other structures that clamp us down and which we fear to repudiate”, according to a statement by PIPFPD signed Syeda Hameed and Tapan Bose, co-chairpersons  of the India chapter.

“The book is a talisman to strip away the fear, to enter the fearless dance with the sun”.

The book is available at a nominal cost to cover the publication, by writing to [email protected].
