HAPPENINGS… Dialogue for peace

Mahesh Bhatt, Wusatullah Khan among prominent personalities from India and Pakistan participating in a dialogue exploring options for peace between the two countries

Prominent peace activists and media personalities from India and Pakistan will participate in a dialogue in Karachi on Monday, 4-7.30 pm, to discuss the possibilities for peace and friendly relations between Pakistan and India.

Well-known journalist and columnist for BBC Urdu Wusatullah Khan will moderate the session, organised by the Sindh chapter of the Pakistan India People’s Dialogue for Peace and Democracy (PIPFPD), the largest and oldest people-to-people lobby group in the region.

Speakers include the renowned film director Mahesh Bhatt and journalist Jatin Desai from India. The Indian guests will participate in the session via Skype.

Speakers in Karachi include prominent Sindhi fiction writer and columnist Amar Jaleel, peace activist and artiste Sheema Kermani, and Senator Mir Hasil Bazinjo, President of the National Party Pakistan.

Tehrik-e-Niswan will present a stage play “Hamaraa Mulk, Hamari Jamhooriat” (Our Country, Our Democracy).

Organisers hope that the dialogue will help clarify questions about the need for peace between Pakistan and India, and lead towards regional peace, stability and prosperity.
