India ready for composite talks with Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: India at last was brought round to restore the process of negotiations with Pakistan, Geo News reported Tuesday.

India’s External Affairs Minister SM Krishna will visit Pakistan on July 15 for talks with his Pakistani counterpart amid meetings between the Home Ministers and Foreign Secretaries from the two countries.

Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi made the announcement Tuesday after a telephone call to his Indian counterpart. He said the discussions on July 15 would touch on the whole range of issues between the two countries.

“There are no quick fixes, but sincerity is there,” he said. “Don’t expect miracles overnight.

Both the leaders talked on phone today at 11am for half an hour.

Later on talking to media, Qureshi said he told Krishna that Qureshi said the terrorism is a mutual trouble and the infights will prove beneficial only to the terrorists.

The FM said his Indian counterpart has accepted the invitation to visit Pakistan on July 15.

‘Water issue is of huge proportions and hence, it necessitates serious discussion,’ the FM Qureshi said adding Pakistan has reservations over Kishan-Ganga Dam and India has been apprised of the same.
