Pak-India peace indispensable for region: Jang survey

QUETTA: Establishment of peaceful atmosphere between Pakistan and India is indispensable for the entire region, said the people belonging to a cross-section of society in a country-wide survey carried out by Jang in connection with the ‘Aman Ki Asha’ initiative.

The survey says that the fear of war on both sides has had serious psychological implications for the two peoples.

It said peace between the neighbouring countries will not only enhance bilateral trade ties but also bring the people closer. The progress of the two nations hinges on friendly relations between the two countries; elimination of poverty will become possible while love will replace the feeling of fear found in the people on both sides.

President of Pakistan Mines Owners Association Sheikh Abdul Aziz said a sensible citizen cannot deny the importance of peace, as it is only peace that can boost economies of the respective countries and bring down poverty in India and Pakistan.

He said the mention of India’s name does not evoke a positive feeling in an average citizen’s mind because of the fact that thousands of Muslims were butchered at the time of the partition of sub-continent besides India’s forceful occupation of Mulsim majority parts such as Kashmir, Junagarh and Hyderabad Deccan.

Chairman Pakistna Chamber of Commerce and Industry Standing Committee for Price Control, Haji Khalid Pervez termed as positive the Jang’s initiative, saying the establishment of peace will shift the resources allocation from defence to education, health and infrastructure development.
