‘People are all the same’
“As a youngster, the media and the narrow minded views of some of my elder relatives, had me convinced that even though we shared a border with Pakistan, we have far too many differences to be considered alike in any way. However, a real eye opener for me was a youth conference that I organised between the individuals of India, Sri-Lanka, Pakistan and Bangladesh. In those few days I realized that the only major way that Indians and Pakistanis are different are that we live in different countries. My belief was strengthened when I came to university in Hong Kong, and met some great Pakistanis. All in all, I believe that only borders divide us, because whether it is on the surface or even deep down, people are all the same.”
