Indo-Pak youth group’s letter to Sushma Swaraj ahead of Pakistan visit

Ahead of Indian foreign minister Sushma Sawaraj’s visit to Pakistan, an Indo-Pak friendship initiative, Aaghaz-e-Dosti, has sought to bring more flexibility, transparency and liberty in promoting people to people contacts to further improve relations between two neighbours.

Founder of Mission Bhartiyam, Aaghaz-e-Dosti, Ravi Nitesh informed TOI on Monday that by re-organizing of the National Security Advisor’s talks in Bangkok, both governments had fulfilled their Ufa promises.

“We have written to foreign minister requesting her to talk about the second promise of Ufa which pertain to releasing all fishermen along with their boats, talking about telecom partnership of both countries, to allow cellphones network of each other in international roaming,” he said.

Aaghaz-e-Dosti is an Indo-Pak friendship initiative of India-based Mission Bhartiyam and Pakistan-based The Catalyst. The organization had been regularly holding Aman Chaupal and have also begun classroom contacts between schools of two nations to help dispel myths and promote people to people contact.

Stating that the youth-led Indo Pak initiative Aaghaz-e-Dosti had conveyed their best wishes to Sawaraj on her visit to Pakistan on Tuesday, he said, “This visit by foreign minister is one of the important steps that can convey the message of maturity and commitment of the government of India for peace talks and good relations with our neighbour country.”

Foreign minister Sushma Swaraj is leaving for Islamabad on Tuesday to attend a conference on Afghanistan and is also scheduled to meet her Pakistan’ Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and her counterpart Sartaz Azis.

Ravi said they had urged Swaraj to consider including their suggestions in her agenda of dialogue with her Pakistani counterparts.”
