Visa norms eased for Pak citizens

RAWALPINDI: A year after India, in the light of 26/11, made it mandatory for every Pakistani visa application to be vetted by the Home Ministry, it has relaxed the norms for those Pakistanis who are looking for repeat visas within three years, an Indian newspaper report said. Union Home Secretary GK Pillai said Pakistanis looking for repeat visas within a period of two or three years need not get clearance from the Home Ministry. This means a nod from the Indian High Commission in Islamabad would be enough for a Pakistani citizen to get a visa for India in case his earlier visa was cleared less than three years ago by the Home Ministry. This could significantly cut down the time taken to grant a visa from the present limit of 40 days.
