Sprint legend Milkha Singh advocates resumption of sporting ties between India and Pakistan, saying that sports help to develop friendship between countries.

“In sports, our teams should go there (Pakistan) and their teams should come here,” said Singh, reports the Press Trust of India.

The athlete popularly known as ‘the Flying Sikh’ was talking to reporters in Patna, after flagging off a half marathon race on Dec. 17, 2017.

“I would ask both Pakistan and India that it would be better if they live with love and affection… We should play games as much as possible as sports help in developing friendship,” Singh said.

India severed sporting ties with Pakistan following the 2016 terror attack in Pathankot.
